LOCATION, PARKING ETC
DANK is conveniently located in Lincoln Square, half block from the Western Brown Line station. Evening classes may park for free in the MB Financial Lot at Western & Gunnison, when bank is closed. Metered parking is available in 3 hour increments on Western Ave. If you need to secure a bicycle, please alert the staff. Yes we have wi-fi!
ADULT GERMAN CLASSES
CURRICULUM
Adult learners have a broad spectrum of personal and career oriented educational goals. To meet these goals DANK provides challenges and different voices especially in language learning. We offer 5 levels of instruction for everyone from true beginners to those with high school and college level experience. Beginner I (offered every semester) Beginner II Intermediate I Intermediate II Advanced Adult learners are generally considered 18 years and older. Our committed faculty members are diverse in their educational background and life experiences, well-qualified and highly motivated. Many hold Masters in German and all receive continuing education through the American Association of Teachers of German and ZfA Schulmanagement weltweit. We encourage you to visit us and sit in during a class. This lets you see first hand how the class is taught, and allows you to determine whether the Schule will meet your needs. We want you to be comfortable, and to feel confident about your decision to join our school. The Schule Office and Classrooms are on the 3rd floor of the DANK Haus German American Cultural Center. Limited work/study scholarships available from the Board of Directors Requests are reviewed by Board at August and January Board meetings, 2nd Monday of month. Please submit your request describing your hardship, your interest in German language and your skills and availability. Scholarship requires 50% of tuition paid in full at registration. Work must be completed within semester of approved scholarship.
MATERIALS
Beginner I, Beginner II and Intermediate I use Deutsch Aktuell I Text and Workbook, 5th Edition. Book sets are available at $85 through DANK.
Higher levels use a variety of materials ranging from $10 - $40 each.
